..... JOSH what you need to do mat is get a fooking MOTORWAY put in.

get on the back of the local mp, and get some propper roadage coming your way :D

Get Alan Partridge on the case - if he's against the pedestrianisation of Norwich City Centre he'd surely support decent Motorway access ?? :good: :D

Well, I am coming (obviously) and giving Yith a lift, but the four hour drive each way is a bit of a drag, and like Porta, less than popular with She Who Must be Obeyed. Which is why I'm only doing the Saturday.

I certainly wouldn't have been up for a 24 hour game and little/no sleep followed by a four hour drive back to Sheffield in the middle of winter. Good way of getting yourself killed, especially on those awful single carriageway A roads.

I enjoyed Border Clash loads though, so want to repeat the experience. I just really like playing Russians, although my wife says I don't look much like Jude Law. :)

Cheers

simply timing for me, very early in the new year, so difficult to commit - the good think about most games is the long lead times to prepare and arrange timetable. due to timing on this one, I wouldnt want to commit and then let people down due to other commitments.

Well, theres an events worth of people right there already so was a well worth Q and poll.

Keep em coming guys, this is massively helpful for future games.

I must admit I have always thought peeps would travel anywhere for a good old bash up and grateful for all the support on this so far.

Norwich seems to be the main one so far....and by the way...I bloody hate Nowrich lol. Its a cocks hole to get to for me let alone players....still, it is a very good site so maybe net year in the summer! It only takes me another 30 mins and I can get to Eversley!

Its only 2 1/2 Hours away from me so travel isnt too bad, just Money and time keep me away.

I personally like to use my own kit as well and only own Yank / Brit. I would feel like crap if I broke something given to me.

The plot thickens!

Norwich is a complete bugger to get to though. I once drove there from Lincoln and it took 4.5 hours!

As porta said i was there :D i dont mind travelling i expect to have to travel to ww2 shoots, but when you have to travel far distances to every shoot it then becomes expensive in travel costs so then it limits you to the amount of shoots you can afford to go to :(

But the problems is WW2 players are all over the country, so how do organisers cater for everyone?

I feel your pain though, as an organiser some of the mileage can get tedious!

this is the problem way down south rules out those up north some times and like wise if you play a game up north , if only there was some place in the middle :happyswing:

and has nothing to do with being in the midlands ...honest :) , for me that last game we played down south at gunman was about limit for us as most only can make the saturdays - thou well worth the trip :)

I'm pretty sure that's because that part of the country simply hasn't been mapped by the Ordnance Survey, due to its remoteness.

Well, they can't. It s unrealistic to expect every player to be able to go to every single game.

Even if distance isn't an issue, other real life things intervene too.

However, if running a game in a far flung corner of the country, then it is likely (but by no means certain) that you will get fewer players. Giving a lot of notice helps. Look at the turnout for Il Gigio.

Some players will also make a big effort to go to some sorts of games, but at the end of the day it is a hobby and everyones motivation to go to particular things will vary.

Cheers

I voted for just can't afford it in January, the distance is not such a huge factor but still a consideration due to fuel cost's etc and when coupled with not really liking real steel limits at games I would rather wait for a game a bit later in the year when money is not so tight and has the normal ammo rules.

Thinking further, it's not necessarily distance per se (although I am a hopeless night driver), but the amount of time I would be away from home. Unfortunately, my wife is not well right now, so I will be strictly limiting my nights away in 2013. So really, any venue beyond 3 hours requires a night stay.

As Andy said distance to Norwich is actually shorter than other venues I am willing to travel to but it is the time taken to get there. Also this time of year (Not being spring or Summer) is a No No for me for camping. Sorry done that for real many years ago in the Army Brrrrrhhhhhh!!!!

Josh as a side not for AGS I have plotted people who live Down South who Actually go to games not wannabees for PR purposes. I used it for the game I put on last May. I first contacted people by PM got the minimum required for the site then put the game on the forum and ended up with 50 odd people coming. As you can see not many over Norwich way who I have found. This might help in planning for the future. Just drop me a line if you need any more details-- attachment is not available --
